WCRS Radio Stage [May. 3rd, 2007|06:24 am]
Share Old Time Radio

[mood |calmcalm]

Many moons ago, I was given the opportunity to write for the WCRS Radio Stage audio series.  WCRS is a service for the blind that runs in many hospitals across the country.  I was one of several regular writers and they produced scripts based on two series I created for their show.  I'm going to post some episodes in the next couple of weeks, during the gaps in the CBS Radio Mystery Theatre.  I hope you enjoy them.

The Old Curiosity Shop - "Through Rose Colored Glasses"
Starring Mel Hart
Originally Aired 2000

A nebish banker wishes the world saw things the way he saw them.  He discovers a pair of rose colored glasses on the shelves of the Old Curiosity Shop and his life changes for the worse.

This is the first in the series and not my best, in my opinion, but I figured I'd start from the beginning.  There were four episodes in this series produced.

It was a fairly amusing show, and had good sound and production values as far as I could tell. The story, as you said, might not be the best in the series, but it was at least as good as many of the drama shows I've heard from the golden age.

I tend to think of radio drama to be much in a similar category as the old Pulp Magazines and Movie Serials in many ways. I don't expect them to be Hollywood Block Buster Movie Quality or Pulitzer Prize Winners etc.

Re: Well

Thanks for the kind words, but I tend to cringe a little when I listen to this one. The second and third in the series, which I will post shortly, are much better. The fourth is kind of sort of there, but is better than this one.

When I get some free time, I will definitely check out this episode. Thank you for posting, it's good to see that on some stations, radio theater is still going strong. Thank you for sharing this with us...Take Care...Bob
